Perhaps after the problems at Workington are sorted, though! It could incorporate a ride on the scenic 'Ratty' which would be of interest to rail enthuiasts and spouses. We've thought about this. Our traditional market is husbands and wives looking for a good day out without having to sit on a motorway looking at the red lights of cars in front or loads of spray from lorries. We always try to provide a specialist railway destination as well as an attractive route and destination(s) for those less railway focussed. Freight lines and a variety of traction would appeal to a different market. Our Special Trains Working Party read this blog so no doubt we'll discuss your suggestion at its next meeting. This sounds interesting. It could be even better once they're all the way through to Porthmadog, hopefully next year. (I understand there's a dispute with the highway authority holding this up). It would be quite a short mileage trip though, so our working party will have to look at whether we could get a good fare using a special train for this. We couldn't use Northern Super-Sprinters to Bangor, since it's off their "patch". We'll let you know. Hi, Mike! This sounds interesting.
