Chester Station Refurbishment – Phase 2 ….

Posted on November 5th, 2009, by The Chairman

We hear the upgrade work on the island platforms at Chester, that’s platforms 4-7 including platforms 5 & 6 which we mainly use, starts next week.

Apparently the contractors have already arrived on site.

If they do as good a job as has been done on the main area and outside, then it will be well worth waiting for.

Meanwhile, can anyone tell us when the unsightly temporary barricade gates are going to be removed from the station entrance?

I was on Chester station last week and had a word with the guardians of the ticket barricades who told me that so far as they were aware the same standard was being applied to the latest phase (and presumably the same long drawn out work period).

I also commented that on arrival on platform 3 it was not possible without going through the ticket barrier to see the departure board for all services. My attention was then drawn to a nail in the pillar between the barriers and the platform edge……this is a weight support test prior to getting listed building permission to put another departure board in this location!
