The Goshawk, Mouldsworth – keep your ticket! ….

Posted on March 28th, 2010, by The Chairman

Across the road from Mouldsworth station is one of Cheshire’s best gastropubs.

Originally known as “The Station Hotel”, it was bought by local pub company Woodward & Falconer around 10 years ago. They have invested significantly in bringing it up to its current excellent standards, improving its interior as well as the surrounding gardens. The food is very good, the wine selection much better than at many gastropubs, and there are up to 5 real ales.

“The Goshawk” was the first attraction along the line to offer a discount to rail travellers – those travelling to Mouldsworth from Chester, Delamere or Cuddington receive a discount off a main meal of the price of their rail ticket on handing over the outward portion, e.g. £2.80 return from Chester to Mouldsworth. So why drive?!!

Have a look at their website by clicking here.

Beware! It can get incredibly booked up. One of our members from Cuddington told me his family turned up without booking on a normal Thursday evening in February and couldn’t get a table until 9.30pm. That’s popular! So ring up and book before you go, and when you’re there, you’ll soon see why it’s so popular.

Sally, our Community Rail Officer, is putting together a brochure of discounts available along the line for rail travellers. This will certainly be in it.

Those of you from Cuddington, Delamere and Chester – remember to keep you train tickets to hand over!
