Friends of Northwich Station ….

Posted on May 14th, 2010, by The Chairman

Friends of Northwich Station met together on Thursday 29 April and are meeting again for a clean up morning on Saturday 22 May between 10am & 1pm at the station.

Those involved will be helping with litter picking, cleaning, tidying and gardening. Everyone is welcome – please turn up in old clothes with gloves if possible.

There are “new”, well new to Northwich, benches on the station instead of the poor metal ones which were unusable as they were right under where the pigeons perched.

There are also new cycle stands on the Manchester bound platform.

On Tuesday 11 May the Chester West & Chester Council (CWaC) Streetscene NEAT Team (Neighbourhood Environmental Action Team) – started tidying Northwich car park.

CWaC are part of the excellent Partnership working at Northwich and their clean up is to support the rest of the work to be done on 22 May.

Also – hot off the press – Tesco next to the station are being excellent Friends of Northwich Station by providing spades, forks and pruners to help with improvements at the station.

Meanwhile, Northern are moving forward with further improvements on top of the excellent Cyber Café (The Zone), CCTV and vastly improved ticket office, with a booking hall repaint next on the list followed by full bird netting to persuade the pigeons to make somewhere else their home.

If you’re local, come along and help on Saturday 22 May if you can.
