Northwich trials earlier opening hours ….

Posted on May 29th, 2010, by The Chairman

Northern are trialling a revision to the ticket office opening hours at Northwich for a 4 week period.

The trial sees the ticket office open an hour earlier at 0615. This means it will now also be open for the first 3 services, the 0625 to Manchester, the 0705 to Stockport as well as the 0712 to Chester. This trial will run from Monday 30 May until Saturday 26 June.

We hear that Northwich has already seen a significant revenue increase due to several initiatives including the provision of a bigger selection of long distance timetables.

Let’s hope the trial proves successful and that the revised opening hours become permanent.

  1. Old Codger Says:

At the recent adopters’ conference in Crewe, the point was made that people travelling early in the morning pay premium fares and are often frequent users, but get an inferior service when it comes to finding out what has happened to their train.

Customer Relations are the best people to ask, but they don’t open until 0800.

Having station staff on duty early is obviously a step in the right direction.
