2012 Railtour is announced ….

Posted on December 9th, 2011, by Vice Chairman

Next year is MCRUA’s 25th Anniversary so we are looking to run our best Railtour ever – with something for everyone.

Yes it is a time to celebrate ….

–          for the Heritage Hunter … we are off to Lincoln to see the Cathedral,
Castle and take some retail therapy
–          for the Connoisseurs of Real Ale … at Wainfleet we have an optional trip
            around a Victorian Brewhouse
–          for those who enjoy Nostalgia and a Seaside Special … our final
           destination is Skegness

We could not resist Skegness – home of the Jolly Fisherman and a town that owes its success to the Railway Excursion.

You can even take a Seaside peep at the Jolly Fisherman Poster on our website. Skegness is so Bracing!

Our Website and Online Booking Office is now open for business  so please take a look what our destinations have to offer.

We would encourage you to book early as we believe this fantastic day out will be very popular.

I am sure it will be one of the first dates you put in your 2012 diaries so here are the details:

  1. Mike Battman Says:

Would it be possible to get off at Wainfleet, do the brewery tour and get a meal and still have time to catch a train to Skegness to catch the excursion back home from there?
Looking at the current time table the trains seem to run at about 20 to the hour, arriving in Skegness just before the hour.
Do we know the timings of the brewery tour?

  2. The Chairman Says:

    Hi, Mike!

There are going to be multiple brewery tours, so you could ask to go on an earlier one or even better book the Brewery Tour that includes a meal.

There are regular buses from Wainfleet to Skeggy if you just miss the hourly train.

  3. Mike Battman Says:

Thanks, that sounds like a plan
