On 25 May 2012 George Osborne officially launched the new group travel brochure at one of the attractions featured in the guide – the Knutsford Heritage Centre.
George met representatives from the Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership, Mid Cheshire Rail Users Association, Northern Rail and the Heritage Centre.
David Miller represented MCRUA with Sally as Community Rail Officer and Chris Ingham, Northern Rail’s Stations Manager for our line.
The new group trip planner encourages groups to travel by train and visit local attractions on the Mid Cheshire line. The guide explains how to get the group travel discount and gives details of some of the many attractions that groups might visit along the line.
Sally says “We want to encourage people to spend their money locally – travelling by train to explore Mid Cheshire attractions. We are lucky to have so many quality attractions that can be accessed from the line such as Knutsford Heritage Centre.”

Production of the leaflet has been made possible thanks to a grant from the Designated Community Rail Lines Fund which the Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership can now access because of our official designated community rail service status. Funding is supplied by Network Rail, the Association of Community Rail Partnerships and the Department for Transport.
The leaflet is available on the community rail website at www.midcheshirerail.org.uk or from Sally Buttifant, 01244 976788 or firstname.lastname@example.org with copies being sent to schools and local groups.
