2012’s coming AGM ….

Posted on June 28th, 2012, by The Chairman

Last year we had an attendance of 25 at our AGM which was followed by questions from the floor and then an excellent and informative presentation from Sally of all the progress along the Mid Cheshire line that she had been involved with over the previous 12 months.

The location works well and so does the format, so we’re running the AGM in a similar way this year.

Thus our 2012 AGM will take place at The Golden Pheasant, Plumley on Thursday 19 July. The meeting will be held in the conservatory at the back of the pub starting at 7.15pm. The Golden Pheasant is only a short walk from Plumley station along Plumley Moor Road. If coming from the Manchester direction exit from the platform via the side gate and continue along the station approach road to Plumley Moor Road. The pub is then directly opposite on the other side of the road. If coming from the Chester direction, exit via the gate, turn left and climb the steps to the road bridge. Once at the road turn left and walk along Plumley Moor Road to the pub. Suitable trains are the 1817 from Manchester Piccadilly and the 1807 from Chester. Suitable return trains are the 2143 to Manchester Piccadilly and the 2103 or 2203 to Chester.

We are always looking for members or others to put themselves forward to help us in the many varied activities we perform both for the benefit of you our members and users of the Mid Cheshire line. If you can spare just a few hours of your time each month please don’t be shy and put yourself forward.

For those who may be interested in joining the committee, we suggest they attend meetings as an observer to gain a better appreciation of how we run things. Committee meetings take place every six weeks and are held in evenings starting at 7.15pm at the Golden Pheasant and usually last up to two hours. If you are interested in a formal committee position at this stage, nominations for any of the Committee positions should sent to be received by John Oates (john.oates@mcrua.org.uk) no less than one week before the date of the meeting. The person nominated must want to be nominated and the nomination must be accompanied by the names of a proposer and seconder, both of whom must be paid-up members of the association. If you want to know more about the positions on the Committee please contact any committee member.

A copy of the minutes from the 2011 AGM and the Constitution can be found on our website Notice Board. After the formal AGM business Sally Buttifant, our Community Rail Officer, will give us her annual informative update on the many and varied activities she and others have been involved with in taking the Mid Cheshire line forward in both promoting it and the stations to a much wider audience.

Please come along if you can. We look forward to seeing you and hearing your comments/questions!

Northwich is on this list. A good one to debate I think

  3. Community Rail Officer Says:

Northern Rail assure me that Northwich is not being closed – it is on the list because of the request to change the hours there – a process that they have to go through. The hours were changed so that the ticket office opens for the earlier commuter trains.

  4. Jen Says:

Northern did previously extend the ticket office hours at Northwich but they have now reduced them to mean that the ticket office is open for the same number of hours as before the extension, but to open earlier.

Northern have also applied to adjust the hours of Hale ticket office. Maybe they should do the same with Knutsford with Sunday opening hours. An opening time of 12:10 doesn’t seem logical when the departure times are 11:49, 12:00, 13:49, 14:00.

London Midland are the only operator proposing to close ticket offices.
