Looking for a new home – 1 Victorian footbridge (used) ….
Posted on July 8th, 2012, by The Chairman
We hear Network Rail are commencing the planning for the process of removing the footbridge at Altrincham.
They’re looking for a new home for it. Here’s a picture of it from documents provided ….
And here’s part of a TfGM document with some more details ….
If you know of someone / somewhere that might be interested, we hear the person to contact is Alan Howarth at Network Rail’s Square One offices by Piccadilly Station.

Another charming footbridge to go, such a shame. I passed through Marple on Sunday and noticed that new one their is now in use and the wonderful old one is now gone.

Delamere station could also do with a footbridge, considering to get between platforms you have a cross a busy fast moving road twice.

The current bridge spans 4 platforms and 4 lines. Navigation Road requires a bridge to span 2 platforms and 2 lines, as does Delamere. So there should be plenty of bridge for both stations!
