Mid Cheshire line Scholar Season Tickets launched for 2012/2013 ….

Posted on July 15th, 2012, by The Chairman

The Mid Cheshire line Scholar Season Tickets scheme has just been relaunched for the 2012/2013 year starting in September.

With assistance from Knutsford High School, Northern started the scheme for their scholars a couple of years ago. It was highly successful – for example, season ticket sales between the South Trafford stations of Navigation Road, Altrincham and Hale to Knutsford increased from 16 to over 10 times that number.

Last year it was extended to cover travel to all schools and colleges along the line. It’s very good value with a 50% discount over normal “child” season ticket prices, and over 70% for over 16s as they also get the “child” prices.

Tickets are available to be purchased from 1 September 2012 at any of the ticket offices along the line – Northwich, Knutsford, Hale and Altrincham.

Below are pdfs of the forms for the 2012/2013 year.

I can see Knutsford-Greenbank tickets being very popular. The new commercial bus service for the next academic year, operated by GHA Coaches, will be £15 or £16 for a full week:

While for Winsford-Hartford the child season rail ticket will be cheaper than a collection of weekly tickets from the new commercial service operated by Pegasus: http://www.stnicholas-school.org.uk/index.php?q=533

  2. Mike Battman Says:

This has to be a win-win situation, both the students and Northern Rail gaining. The students through cheaper tickets and NR by having less evasion.

  3. Lisa Says:

Will this be available for south Trafford students travelling from knutsford to south Trafford college x

  4. The Chairman Says:

    Hi, Lisa!

It’s available for them from Knutsford to Altrincham or Navigation Road. They’d have to pay for the bus or walk from there.
