- when the line through Sale was handed over to Metrolink in 1990, and then again:
- in December 2008, when the Department for Transport (DfT) allocated more of the line capacity between Stockport and Manchester for “more and faster trains to [...]

I hear today from Andrew that a 3000 series new tram ventured onto the Altrincham line. I understand that up until now they have only been test running between the depot at Queen’s Road and Bury.
Here’s a picture I took on my phone of 3001 progressing down Mosley Street late lunchtime. It may [...]

Trams return to Manchester City Centre ….

Posted on November 3rd, 2009, by The Chairman

Metrolink came back to Manchester City Centre yesterday after the first major rebuild of the most heavily used part of the system since it opened in the early 1990s.
Our trains have seen many more using them from Altrincham to Piccadilly whilst the central section of Metrolink has been closed.
It will be interesting to see if [...]

Tram/Train to cure our poorer timetable since December 2008? ….

Posted on October 13th, 2009, by The Chairman

An article on Tram/Train appeared in our Summer 2009 “Rail Report”.
