COMMUNITY RAIL OFFICER VACANCY 15th July 2009
The Community Rail Partnership is seeking a new Community Rail Officer for the Mid Cheshire Line. It is a part time post, initially until March 2011. Closing date is 24 July 2009.
The Mid-Cheshire Community Rail Partnership (for the Chester-Northwich-Manchester railway line) runs through the administrative areas of Cheshire West and Chester and Cheshire East Councils. You will work for the Mid-Cheshire Community Rail Partnership, although you will be appointed and managed by Cheshire West and Chester Council.
The Mid Cheshire Line is operated by Northern Rail.
The main tasks of the post will be to promote and develop rail services along the line through a community based approach, to work closely with all key stakeholders along the rail corridor, to encourage the integration of rail services with other transport modes and to develop and manage projects to increase rail usage.
You will have a strong community based perspective and will need to have an ability to develop and manage projects and to prepare funding bids and manage budgets. It is also essential that the post holder has the ability to work flexible hours to suit the communities that are served by the Line. A basic knowledge of the rail industry would also be advantageous.
You should be able to work on your own initiative and have good negotiation skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are also essential.

The post is temporary until 31 March 2011 (extendable if funding allows) and is for 22.5 hours (3 days) per week). The salary is £12,956 - £14,839 per annum.
