SCHOLAR SEASON TICKETS GIVE UP TO 75% DISCOUNT 29th July 2011
Scholar season tickets introduced by train company Northern Rail on the Mid Cheshire Line mean that scholars travelling to school/college along the line receive 50% discount for those under 16, and 75% for those older when compared to buying tickets every day.
John Oates, Chairman of MCRUA/MCCRP says
"Northern trialled these scholar season tickets with the large discounts between Altrincham and Knutsford for Knutsford High School scholars two years ago due to the 100s using the train every day and the difficulty of selling them all daily tickets. We hear this has proved a huge success with season ticket sales up more than 10-fold. Not surprising given the huge discounts being given.
We asked last year for the scheme to be extended to cover all travel to educational establishments along the line and Northern obliged".

If a particular station to station fare is not shown, Northern will provide one on being contacted.
Scholars need to get their school/college to sign and stamp the form before taking it to a ticket office at a Northern-run station such as Altrincham, Hale, Knutsford or Northwich to obtain the season tickets.
These tickets are proving very attractive not only due to the huge savings to be made, but also as they are also valid in evenings, at weekends and outside term time for leisure travel! |
