We made a very comprehensive reply to this important document, the text of which can be viewed by clicking here.North West Route Utilisation Strategy - Now PublishedNetwork Rail have now published the NW RUS. Whilst it offers nothing new to the present service, the comments that MCRUA made regarding proposals to alter aspects of the service, that is skip-stop and terminating the trains at Stockport or Manchester Victoria have been accepted. Therefore nothing will change for the time being. We now await the publication of the West Coast train service schedules in late 2008 when the plans for introducing more trains between Manchester and London will be made known. This could have an impact on the mid-Cheshire line. Our wider aspirations for the mid-Cheshire train services have only been answered in part, with the changes to the signalling at Greenbank and Northwich being proposed for the time when the present signalling equipment is replaced. MCRUA has a copy of the latest National Fares ManualMCRUA now has a copy of the latest National Fares Manual (North West edition) which includes all rail fares from all stations in the North West to any station in the country and all fares from any station in Britain to and from London. The cheapest Manchester-London fare is still Midland Mainline's advance purchase single via Sheffield, which now costs £7. Please contact Andrew Macfarlane, tel: 0161-928 9394, if you wish to check a fare. Return to Homepage |
