Picking up at Altrincham - Shrewsbury, the railtour was hauled by Diesel Class 67, 67005 Queens Messenger.

At Chester 67005 was replaced by Diesel Class 37, 37422 Cardiff Canton and 37406 The Saltire Society.

The outward service was via Llandrindod Wells returning via Hereford.

Over 570 passengers travelled on The Heart of Wales.
