Friends of Northwich Station ….

Posted on February 27th, 2010, by The Chairman

Sally Buttifant, our Community Rail Officer, asks –

“Are you interested in the Northwich Station?

“Have you got some time to spare?

“Would you like to make a difference in your community?

“Then why not become a Friend of Northwich Station?”

You can volunteer for as much or as little time as you can and make new friends.

Northwich Station is a key gateway into the area – we want to encourage interested and enthusiastic local people of any age to come forward and volunteer some time to care for the station.

There are opportunities for people who are interested in gardening or who would like to get involved in station clean ups or who have other skills that they feel could be utilised there.

Having a “Friends of Northwich Station” group is an excellent opportunity for the community to take ownership of their local station, to take pride in making a difference there and to bring yet another of our stations up to an improved standard of which we can be proud.

John Hulme, Organiser of Cheshire Best Kept Stations and Vice Chairman of MCRUA said: “We already have Local Volunteer Groups working on the Mid Cheshire Line at Delamere, Greenbank, Plumley, Mobberley, Hale and Altrincham and it makes a real difference to our Railway Stations. If we can find the community spirit to form a Friends Group, we have an opportunity to return Northwich Railway Station to its former self and an asset we can be proud of”.

Anyone interested in becoming a Friend of Northwich Station please contact Sally via the Mid-Cheshire Rail website or by phone on 01244 976788 or 07736 523863.
