Steaming ahead for a great day out ….

A visit to scenic Llangollen, including the towns’ steam train railway is now much closer than you think, with public transport links from the Mid-Cheshire Line making the journey quick and easy.

Using the Mid-Cheshire Line to Chester, then the hourly trains to Ruabon with a direct bus connection from outside the station to Llangollen with a journey time of less than two hours, a great day out is within easy reach.

Merseytravel are promoting the link strongly from Liverpool and the Wirral. Councillor Mark Dowd, Chair of Merseytravel and an ex steam engine driver said, “Merseytravel operate a great range of tourist attractions here on Merseyside, but with the summer holidays just around the corner we realise that people sometimes want to travel further afield and so we do all that we can to support those journeys and help our passengers to enjoy days out right across the region. Take the kids because steam is a dream!”

This is a good example of a cross border promotion which can be applied to other areas to encourage rail travel and the bus interchange at Ruabon with a 15 minute frequency on route 5 makes access easy.
