For those that follow the MCRUA Chairman’s Blog, your advance notice of our next excursion. Our next excursion will be The North Eastern Express, on Saturday 7th May 2011, for Darlington, Durham and Newcastle. There will be an optional trip to the Beamish Living Museum of the North. Our on-line booking office for this excursion opens on 1st December 2010.

Back in May 2000, 5 stops on our line had their status changed to “request” – Mouldsworth, Delamere, Lostock Gralam, Mobberley and Ashley. Here’s work in progress replacing the ricketty old steps from the road bridge down to the Up side (Manchester-bound) platform at Plumley Station. There’s some serious foundations going in here. Looks like they should last for the next 150 years! The finished job….

Next time you go into Manchester, you should see the new Metroshuttle buses. These replace the previous ones that are now over 5 years old.
