Request stops abolished! ….

Posted on November 29th, 2010, by The Chairman

Back in May 2000, 5 stops on our line had their status changed to “request” – Mouldsworth, Delamere, Lostock Gralam, Mobberley and Ashley. This was in the days when the train running performance on the line was dreadful. The idea for the request stops came from the newly-established Mid Cheshire Train Running Quality Improvement Team […]

Here’s work in progress replacing the ricketty old steps from the road bridge down to the Up side (Manchester-bound) platform at Plumley Station. There’s some serious foundations going in here. Looks like they should last for the next 150 years! The finished job….

2010’s final Music Train – a bit different ….

Posted on November 25th, 2010, by The Chairman

The young country music band were excellent (Rusty Cadillacs) and their repertoire included ‘Merseyrail’ and ‘Night Train to Chester’ – both their own compositions. They varied the style between the train and the pub and finished […]

Posted on November 23rd, 2010, by The Chairman

Our line’s Stations Manager, Chris Ingham, has to get out and about as part of his job, liaising with his staff, checking the facilities, seeing what needs doing and also being involved where others need to encroach on Northern’s lease area. Here’s Chris last Wednesday on a quick visit to Mobberley on the way to […]

Thanks to the Forestry Commission, Delamere is the first station along our line to have sponsored signs. “Delamere – The forest station – From tracks to trails” Here’s our Community Rail Officer, Sally Buttifant, our Northern Line Manager, Chris Ingham and the Forestry Commission’s CRP representative, Richard Mostyn. Passenger figures at Delamere are increasing faster […]

Christmas is coming! ….

Posted on November 21st, 2010, by The Chairman

Christmas certainly must be coming judging by the loadings on the Saturday trains along the line. Here’s the 1303 from Chester leaving Hale yesterday very full. I came back on the 2346 from Hale to Mobberley. 142028 again, and again very full even at a few minutes to midnight. Why does the last train run […]
