Christian Wolmar 18 November talk ….

Posted on November 3rd, 2010, by The Chairman

On Thursday 18 November 2010, railway journalist and author Christian Wolmar will be coming to Manchester to give a lecture on behalf of the Rotary Club of Manchester at Freemasons’ Hall, Bridge Street, Manchester, on his new book, “Engines of War, How wars were won and lost on the railways”.

The book has some surprising findings about the importance of the railways in a series of wars from the Crimean to the Korean. And there’s lots of fascinating pictures.

Light refreshments will be provided at the lecture.

Prior to the lecture, there will be a small auction of railwayana. Amongst the items donated will be some station signs – kindly donated by Northern Rail.

All profits will go to one of our favourite charities, The Railway Children.

Doors open 6 for 6:30pm.

Tickets: £15, including a £5 reduction for a signed copy of the book available on the night. Tickets can be purchased online here or from Railway Children office on 01270 757596.

Details in the Christian Wolmar – flyer.
