Revised Mid Cheshire freight flow ….

Posted on November 4th, 2010, by The Chairman

Members will have read in our latest Rail Report about a regular freight flow on the line being the Shap Quarry to Hope Street (Salford) DB Schenker stone train in the late evening.

This contract appears to have passed to Direct Rail Services and now runs earlier. Below is 66428 on a train of ex-Fastline (the Jarvis freight company that went “bust”) hoppers passing Mobberley box just after 1300 on 2 November as 6H11, picture taken by Bob Robinson, one of the Mobberley signallers.

Later in the afternoon, light engine DB Schenker 66160 turned up on the “Down” line.

Bob is a keen plane follower and not used to taking pictures of “aircraft” passing at 60mph at close quarters! There was excitement in the plane fraternity yesterday when Emirates’ newly-delivered A380 “Super Jumbo”, A6-EDM, took off on the daily lunchtime A380 run to Dubai. The evening flight remains as a Boeing 777.
