Plumley’s getting new steps ….

Posted on November 26th, 2010, by The Chairman

Here’s work in progress replacing the ricketty old steps from the road bridge down to the Up side (Manchester-bound) platform at Plumley Station.

There’s some serious foundations going in here.

Looks like they should last for the next 150 years!

The finished job….

  1. Silk Town George Says:

I wondered what all the activity was when I drive to Northwich from Macclesfield.

    Well worth it.

Sorry I cannot travel by train, but it’s a long excursion via Stockport!

  2. railofficer Says:

Yes – looking forward to using the new steps when the work is finished.

In the meantime, passengers alighting at Plumley on the Manchester side need to take care crossing the car park and going over the bridge. Network Rail have now put lights on the bridge to make it easier to see and Northern have asked their contractors to grit the car park while the work is being undertaken.
