Yesterday UK Railtours ran a Basigstoke to Buxton via Middlewich special, returning via Chesterfield.

Courtesy of Dave Roberts and Neil Cunliffe, here’s class 66 66213 leading the train’s 13 coaches through Middlewich with class 66 66153 on the rear.

  1. David Miller Says:

If you want to see something else unusual, there is an empty voyager every Saturday morning. It passes Cuddington at between 0845 and 0900 on its way to Chester. I don’t know where it comes from but guess Longsight

  2. Allan Lewis Says:

This Voyager is actually from Crewe – Holyhead and runs over the Middlewich Branch and is run that route for train crews to retain ‘route knowledge’ in case of diversions. A lot of empty trains tend to do this in various parts of the country.
