The Weaver Hall Museum on London Road, Northwich will open its doors early next weekend (Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th July 2013) with a Railway Weekend supporting the ongoing celebrations of 150 Years of Rail Travel on the Mid Cheshire railway line.

There will be a six layout model railway exhibition, an outdoor miniature railway, railway films and a display about our local railways.

The Museum will be open from 10am to 4.30pm on both days.

Railway Weekend – Stockton Mill

Back in 1863, when the railway line opened between Knutsford and Northwich, who would have thought model railways would be so popular with all generations of the family.

Whilst the Museum is celebrating the momentous occasion of rail travel coming to the Mid Cheshire Line, this will be a family weekend for all to enjoy.

A family of four can come along for £7, so it is provides a great value event as we enter the school holiday season.

Our Rail Officer, Sally Buttifant says:

“Everyone I meet has a local railway story to tell.  For some it is taking their grandchildren by train to Delamere forest.  For others it is the nostalgic days of steam.

I expect to hear many more stories at this unique weekend event.

The Community Rail Partnership is very pleased to partner Weaver Hall with this Railway Weekend.

The weekend is also being supported by MCRUA, the 8E Locomotive Association and the Friends of Weaver Hall Museum.

It will be an exceptional day out as visitors will not only be able to enjoy the model railway exhibition and outdoor railway, they will also be able to visit the other galleries in the Museum that celebrate our local heritage.”
