  1. The Chairman Says:

I’ve added a further picture (above) taken by Mike of the beginning of the end for the footbridge ….

  2. Mike Battman Says:

    From the Trafford MBC website…

“The next phase of improvement works to the Altrincham Interchange will take place over the next few weeks.

As a result, there will be a temporary loss of car parking spaces in the Oakfield Road car park, which is the main car park to access the Altrincham Interchange.

This disruption is due to the building of a new footbridge between platforms one and two at the interchange. This phase of the work will start on 3 February 2014 and will continue for three weeks, until 24 February.

The work will mean that 22 car parking spaces will be temporarily out of use at Oakfield Road and the pay and display machine within this area will not be available during this three weeks period. The rest of the car park will remain open as usual.

The closure will temporarily affect users of the ice rink but also national rail travellers; the car park will remain open during the works.

Executive Lead for Highways and Environment Councillor Alan Mitchell said.

“The building of a new footbridge at Altrincham Interchange is much needed and is part of a phased programme of works to improve passenger safety and access within this important transport hub.”

Further work is scheduled to take place and regular notices will be displayed at the relevant times to keep customers informed.”
