Knutsford Rail Walks Presentation and Survey Results ….

Posted on November 26th, 2013, by The Chairman

This lunchtime, the winner of the Knutsford Rail Walks prize was presented with her certificate (a meal for 4 at The Railway Inn, Mobberley) by Lynda Davies, landlady at The Railway Inn.

The winner, Yvette, had been one of 24 who had responded to the questionnaire, and who had been randomly selected (using the random function in Microsoft Excel) as the winner. Congratulation to Yvette (and also to her husband, Neil, who we suspect may be invited along!)

Richard Christopherson, Knutsford Local Area Partnership Manager made a brief speech thanking all involved, including the volunteers who’d tested the walks for both the first and then the second editions, as well as all others involved, including The National Lottery who funded the First Edition and Cheshire East Council who funded the Second Edition produced as the 10,000 copies of the First Edition had gone out of print within 10 months due to proving so popular.

Sally Buttifant, our Community Rail Officer, brought a “whole Mid Cheshire line” perspective to the great success that the series of three booklets are being, noting that the whole project had gained third place in the Best Innovative use of Traditional Methods in the Promotion of Community Rail at the recent national Community Rail Awards.

Richard introduced the results from the Knutsford Rail Walks survey, all of which were very positive (apart from one where some Ashley walkers appears to have arrived at a Police crime scene!)

The Rail Walks initiative has proved to be excellent, and due to its popularity looks like being so for many years to come.

Well done to all involved. A great way of introducing more people to our local countryside and supporting more of our local businesses.
