The gentleman is also featured on The Churnet Valley Railway on Friday.

  2. The Chairman Says:

The whole of page 3 in this week’s Knutsford Guardian – http://www.knutsfordguardian.co.uk/news/14182444.Knutsford_in_the_spotlight_this_week_in_BBC_documentary_from_Michael_Portillo/

    Remember to watch it.

    Friday looks good, too.

  3. The Chairman Says:

    Good I thought.

Now we know how they manage to film on such empty trains. He was on the 0602 from Chester via Knutsford as far as Stockport last June …. on a Saturday morning.

  4. Jen Says:

It was strange Michael Portillo did the closing piece from Preston station opposed to from Knutsford station. Maybe Knutsford station was busier than the BBC allowed for later on making it difficult for him to film his closing piece from there?

  5. vince chadwick Says:

I was duty signalman at lovely Consall when they filmed him there. He was already on the footplate when the train ran in from Froghall whereas on the programme it was claimed he moved from train to footplate at Consall.

  6. The Chairman Says:

As they say in the Press, “Never let the facts get in the way of a good story” ….

  7. Jen Says:

There’s 3 types of DMU used on our line and it appeared Portillo managed to use them all – a 142 from Chester to Knutsford, a 156 from Knutsford to Ashley and a 150 from Ashley to Stockport.

  8. John Boardman Says:

With the continuity on that programme, it’s a surprise he wasn’t on a 101, in green, brought down from Cumria.
