The Mid Cheshire Community Rail Partnership is pleased to be supporting the Lion Salt Works by promoting it as a “rural walk to” attraction from its station at Lostock Gralam.

John Hulme BEM, a CRP member, Vice Chairman of Mid Cheshire Rail Users Association (MCRUA) and also a Trustee of the Lion Salt Works Trust said:

“The last 12 months have been an exciting time for the Lion Salt Works since its opening to the public as a local living Museum to UK’s industrial heritage.

It is one of the last open-pan, salt-making sites in the world, and brings to life the importance of Mid Cheshire salt both regionally and globally.

When the Trustees received the news that, from over 600 organisations, the Salt Works had been shortlisted to the last six in the Heritage Category they were convinced that local support would ensure victory as the top National Heritage Attraction in the National Lottery Awards.

It is so exciting that one of the local attractions that we promote from the Mid Cheshire Line has been shortlisted to one of six.

I very much hope all our local supporters on the Mid Cheshire Line will vote for the Lion Salt Works to be crowned Best Heritage project.”

I’m a bit unhappy that people seem to be being encouraged to vote
    without visiting the works
I would like to think that if it wins people are saying ‘its worth a viait’
